As a teenager in Ocean City, MD, I learned the ropes working for a local builder on custom homes. Those days swinging hammers and digging trenches taught me the value of hard work and solid craftsmanship. Every nail driven, every trench dug - it built something in me that no classroom could.

Moving into real estate, I focused on builders and developers - learning the industry's complexities: zoning, construction, and market demands. Over the next 20 years, I helped navigate deals on dozens of condo projects, fine-tuning plans to meet the precise needs of builders and buyers alike.
I became fluent in both the language of construction and the language of commerce.

After years advising builders, I thought "I can do this better." When the market slowed, I sketched a plan, hired an architect, and created The Dorado Model - the first of many homes built by Dan Clayland Properties. That moment of conviction changed everything. It was no longer about advising others- it was about building something that was truly mine, and truly right.
